This paining is a rare abstract version of one of my historical figure bison but in the style of Fritz Scholder, utilizing color fields and strong lines. This painting was completed around the 4th of July so it parallel's America's birthday during a time to reflect upon the complicated national relationship with the bison.
At one point in our nation's history, it was hunted to near extinction in order to exterminate the Native American population across the United States. However now the bison is officially that national mammal.
Whether you like bison or not, this is an abstract portrait measuring 40 inches tall by 30 inches wide. It is signed on the front and on the back. The stretcher bars are 1.25 inches deep.
